I got an Ipod touch so I thought I had to update my I-tunes App,
and now that I started the ball rolling, I'm kind of stuck in a difficult spot.
I-tunes 9.0 is telling me that I need to have Quicktime 7.5.5
or higher on my system, but I edit with FCP,
and I know that FCP & QT really need to "play nicely" together.
I'm running (Tiger) OS 10.4.11 on my G5 Mac,
and I do all of my editing with FCP 6.0.4 using Quicktime 7.0.
Everything has been running fairly smooth,
so I hate to upset the Apple cart (no pun intended),
but now that I started something I don't know exactly how to get out of it.
I tried to uninstall I-tunes 9 and go back to Itunes 7,
but I think I did something wrong,
cause the I-tunes library is formatted for the newer version of I-tunes,
and it won't let me go back to the previous version.
What I'd like to do is update Quicktime to 7.5.5 or higher,
then everything will be fine with my new I-touch and I-tunes,
but will that cause a major problem with FCP?
I read that the current version of Quicktime (7.6.4) will work with FCP 6.0.6...
but I can't believe everything I read.
And I really don't want to learn the hard way.
So is there a way that I can update Quicktime to 7.5.5 or higher,
without messing with my FCP 6?
What would be the most compatible mix of versions for FCP 6 & Quicktime
using OS 10.4.11?
Thanks,
Todd
