Hey all... I am planning to buy the af100. But I have been hearing some weird problems over here regarding the camera and the corrupted and artifacted footage. What do people have to say about it. Another question that I have is if you compare the image of Af100 to the EX1 which one would be better? Leaving the DOF aside.

Af100 has a bigger chip so its more sensitive. So less noise as compared to the EX1, right?

It has a better codec? Barry states that 24mbps of avchd is almost equal to 40mbps of Mpeg2 Long GOP.

I come for the background of Sony PD170, DSR250, DSR400, DVX100 Sony Z1. I will obviously find the AF100 better. But which one is better in terms of picture and image: Af100 and EX1.

I am a narrative filmmaker. I don't cover events and weddings. I don't do documentaries much. So all I do is narratives, Ads and music videos. Controlled lighting. So tell me should I buy it or go for some other camera? I like the F3 but its out of my range. Maybe after a few months. Who knows?

There is enough background material and posts of this informative site on this very question without having to start a new thread. Sparky

You need to do more research if you're really asking the question- which is better AF100 vs EX1. Those are night and day cameras- fixed lens vs. interchangeable, small chip vs large. etc.

Personally in this price category I can't see any other camera a hardcore narrative/artistic sort of filmmaker would be more into. The ability to use just about any sort of lens out is the key to creative photography that no fixed lens camera can offer.
