So i found someone locally selling aTM-R14U 14-INCH COLOR STUDIO MONITOR and was wondering what a good price on a used piece of equipment like this would be. Also i never shot on set with a video monitor, is there a big advantage to it? I have a few music videos i'll be shooting in the next few months and think it may help a lot to have one. How about using something like this for color correction compared to a normal TV. Any input about this video monitor and a good price would be helpful in my decision of weather to buy it or not. Here are two links about it:

We use a bunch of TM-R10U's as monitors in our studio at school, as well as occasionaly as field monitors (due to their size).
Of course a bigger monitor shows you more, but then it is a little heavier.

Having a monitor on you shoot is very important - it allows you to actually see what you are shooting!
The TM series are professional monitors whic have the proper adjustments to allow you to callibrate them to show color corectly. - Most TVs can only hope ot come close to accurate color reproduction if they are lucky.
You also have other usefull features, like underscan to let you see the whole picture, all the way to the edges.
Hard to say what's a good price. The MSRP is $895 ..so i guess i'd look to pay around $600-700 for a good used one, unless it's a surplus one, then you may get it for less.

thanks man, your info was very helpful. Can you see there being any issue hooking up a DVX to this on set? What type of cable is best for it, and what price do you think you would be looking at for a long enought one to use on set? Thanks again.

A monitor is a monitor. connection shouldn't be a problem.
The monitor will connect with either Composite (a BNC connector on the monitor) or S-video (Y/C)
Generally the shorter the cable the better for quality, but that all depends on where you want to monitor in relation to the camera! If you want the monitor riding on a dolly with the camera then 6 ft shoudl do it.. but if you want teh camera on top of a 30ft crane with the director stoof another 50ft away thenyou'll want a longer cable....
Best yet, get a couple of cables of different lengths (and get an adapter so that you can connec them together incase you need a longer one!)
