Timeline into timeline??

Hey guys,

is there anyway you can place a project into another project's timeline?

In After Effects you can place compositions as layers in other compositions... can you do a similar thing with Avid without having to render an output first?

Not really. There is no way to do 'precomping', where a previous sequence is put on a timeline as 1 long clip. You can use a previous seq as source material by dragging it in the source monitor. If you edit this in your new seq, Avid displays all original cuts in your new seq. So, it's not the same as a precomp. You could put a submaster effect over your videolayer in your original seq, but I don't think there's much point in that.

Maybe a Video Mixdown would help you?

But putting a sequence in the source monitor and editing that into a new timeline has always been the most effective workflow for me. That way you retain your original edits in case you need to make changes.
