Timeline Drag And Drop Question

I'm using Avid Express Pro I'm trying to drag and drop clips from the source monitor to the timeline, but for some reason the default keeps putting me on V1 and A1 / A2. Even when I patch other tracks, I cannot drag and drop to them. How can I change that setting to drag and drop to V2, etc.

I can however place video on the patched tracks by using the splice in and overwrite modes.

Any help you can give would be totally appreciated.

Thanks so much

Jeff

Learn to use overwrite and splice to edit. It's a much faster to edit using the keyboard compared to using "drag and drop".

I can use the modes and patch to different video and audio tracks (with keyboard), however, I am not sure where the setting is to change the Drag and Drop from only going to V1 and A!, A2...Can anyone help...Thanks so much

the point milk was making is that pressing 'B' or 'V' is much easier than clicking and dragging your clips into the timeline, so how important is it to gain more flexibility in drag n drop functionality?

I agree... and for the most part, I'm using the keyboard. I was curious why Drag and Drap isn't working the way it should (I.E. - I should be able to drag to different video tracks)...I'm sure it's a setting, but I can't find it..

Thanks for taking the time to answer

at the bottom of your timline, you will see a redarrow. If yo click it, you'll be able to click nd drag those clips on your timeline. Click n it again to exit that mode.
