Timelapse with smeary trails of motion

Hi All

I've seen this before with other cameras but can't seem to achieve it with the HVX

I want to do some time lapse where I see the lights of cars trail and make a smeary pattern

What are my options

Do I just get the shutter as slow as it can go and speed up the film or is there a way to do actual time lapse.

Examples and settings would be appreciated.

Use the frame rate hack to put the camera in 2fps mode. Then set the shutter to 350.0 degrees in syncro scan mode. That'll get you some decent smears.

Barry is right, well, who am I say that, he's always right. But you end up with some really good smears, light trails, whatever ya wanna call em usinf those settings. The first time I did a night time-lapse, i forgot to put the shutter to 350 deg, stood gaurd of my camera for over an hour, and had garbage footage that wasn't even usable for the project I was doing. So make sure ya use that shutter. hahahaha

2 fps - smearing?

2 fps - smearing?

Barry (or anyone),
I'm having trouble getting the smearing affect. I loaded the 2 fps scene file from Barry's CD. I can see the 2 FPS scene file in F1. I also changed syncro-scan to 350.0d. When recording the time-lapse effect occurs, but there's no smearing. I must have missed a step. Any thoughts?

Barry, thanks. I checked. The shutter is on and set to 350.0d. The feeling is a little more staccato than I'd like. What I want is more blur/smear with regard to people moving through a shot. I guess I'll have to play with the settings a bit more. Any ideas? Anyone?
