Timelapse to MiniDV

I am new to doing time lapse shots and have only done them on film with an intervelometer or by sped up DV footage. Can the HVX record slow frame rates (2-12fps) to miniDV or is there some other intervelometer setting for this? I haven't got the Firestore yet and I am aware that you can do time lapse onto that.
 
Thank you. Are P2 cards the ONLY way of doing this? I was going to save costs and buy the Firestore drive instead. I just haven't gotten it yet and was wondering if you could do timelapse' in Standard def onto tape?

No timelapse to tape.

Don't know if the FireStore would offer such an option or not; that would be something specifically for them to answer.

The HVX supports it when recording to the P2 card.
 
A P2 card is the cheapest "film" you will ever buy for time-lapse.
I have done two paying time-lapse gigs this week and made enough money to buy another 4 gig card!!
