timelapse/stopmotion dvx100B?

i plan to do some stop motion and timelapse..but ive researched extensively and now know that the 100b does not have it.

So my question is, How can we overcome this disablity, without using firestore or my NLE. Is there frame by frame capturing for stopmotion? and how can i do timelapse, and yes i know it wears out the heads..but some projects just require like the thriller im doing as of now...so please help me and ill help you :)
 
I have had success with "WinDV", a free program from http://windv.mourek.cz
I downloaded this to my laptop and extracted it. I connected my camera, (My GS400, haven't tried it yet on my DVX102B as I only got it yesterday) via firewire to the laptop. Made a capture folder, started the program and hit CONFIG which allows one to set "Every N-th Frame". I used 13 which was good. Aimed at some clouds, hit "Capture" and came back half an hour later and had a bit over 2 minutes of scooting clouds. Can take into your editing software as required. Downside is that you have to take your laptop along for the ride.

I don't suppose you know if there is a mac counter-part to WinDV?
