Timelapse Settings

I was just wondering what is the best settings from experience for shooting timelapse
either a night time traffic scene or clouds passing by?

thank you

You've really got to play with it. I've done a bunch of TLs recording in real time and speeding 'em up in post; its better to record too many frames and remove them later than to need more and not have them. I'd start at the 2s rate and see how it works.

The key to night time TLs is to use a slow shutter to get the streaky effect.

You must use the 2fps frame rate hack (google "dvxuser want some more frame rates?") for "streaky" night shots.
Then set the shutter angle at 350 degrees. This will give you the right effect.
Like these carnival shots of mine:

Most daytime time lapses can be done using the interval setting. I use 1fps most of the time, you can always speed it up a bit if needed, and all the frames you need for smooth motion will be there.
