Timelapse on Tattoo

I want to shoot a tattoo getting done over a one or 2 hour period. I'd like to shoot it timelapsed. Any suggestions on settings? Anyone done this before?

Any suggestions appreciated

How long do you want the finished product to be? Do the math--24 frames a minute will make an hour into a minute. That might not be an available setting but I'm pretty sure there's an equivalent. Tweak as desired.

And, if it's possible, I'd shoot it with two cameras, from two different angles. Shoot one tight on the artwork, and one wide on the artist/studio.

Make sure the person you are shooting is impervious to pain and can basically freeze in the same place, otherwise I don't see a timelapse that would look ok. I've been in the shop a few times and I know I wasn't exactly sitting still.

Just my half penny.

It will still look ok if your subject moves a few times, but if they're fidgety, it will be super distracting. Be sure to account for light changing if there's daylight in the shot.

There's an awesome tattoo scene in "Eastern Promises".

How long is the final clip going to be? Is it a minute of watching? Five minutes of watching? This should give you the math numbers Justin spoke of. Is this HD? Think about the amount of information you're going to be creating. Halfway through you don't want to sound like the recently Late Roy Scheider, and have to say "We're gonna need a bigger P2 card."

It sounds like a really interesting clip. Part of something bigger?

Possibly. I've been shooting a lot of footage for a local hip-hop group here in Orange County, Ca. Could be possible dvd footage. Might use it for school. Depends on how it comes out. I'll put a link up once its done. Thanks for the suggestions.
I'll have to check out Eastern Promises too.
