Anyone who has shot time lapse with their 170 care to share recommend/settings?

Shooting at night I cant get the shutter below 1/12 (am i missing something) so even though I get the timing - there's not really any motion blur.

It's very sharp and ''darty''. I'm looking for ''streams of light''

Thanks

to get 2 fps hack
save scene file into SD card,
open it in your O.S.
go into that textedit / notebad file deep in the folders
replace one of these, change the "F" number if you do not want it as F1.

Great thanks guys

I was doing the 2fps hack.

My issue is not with the timing of time lapse but with the shutter speed.

I'm coming from film so in my mind it would be the shutter that creates the streak...and the frame (in this case 2fps) is the amount of time you allow the CCD to see the see the streak.

As an example.. A highway of cars. 2 fps will allow you to see several cars moving individually.

In the highway example I would like to achieve no visible vehicles just static streams of light.

Is the lowest shutter on the HPX- 170 ..........1/12 ?

I'm use to film where you can have the shutter open to 30 seconds or however long you want to keep your finger on the button.

I realise the 170 is not a film camera but more concerned/confused/curious that 1/12 is a slow as I can go??

Maybe increasing the shutter angle is what Im looking for??

Thanks again guys

Thanks DMRider

What are my different available shutter angles? I no longer ave the 170 with me..

I've also tried the 2 fps hack, and also seem to get sharp "footage," (fileage? :-) ) even though I set the shutter to 350 or 360 degrees using synchro scan.

You have to use the "shutter' and 'speed sel' buttons to actually choose the syncro scan shutter speed. You set what the syncro scan speed will be in the scene file menu, but you have to use the shutter speed sel buttons to actually choose the syncro scan.

Just to give you another option - this was shot with a Nikon D200 w/3 sec exposures every 5 sec. for 45 minutes.
