Not wanting to reinvent the wheel, wondering if a timelapse calculator has ever been written???

Obviously it is easy enough to work out but if something was available in black and white to immediately plan how long the sequence would be at different frame rates over a given time it would be most helpful!....dont you think?
 
i have a chart - don't know if there is one online or not. The chart is avilable in the American Cinematographer Manual.

oooh - it would be cool to make a widget calculator for this though!
 
I just made a quick spread in excel based on a 24fps time base. It's pretty simple math, though the chart may look confusing.

How to Use -

The Length of Scene across the top is the length that you wish your final timelapse to be on playback. So if you record an event that lasts 8 hours but you want to have it happen in a minute, use the column labeled 60.

Time of Action is how long the event is.
As a caveat in the first section 4 = 4 minutes and when it breaks the hour mark it goes to an hour:minutes format. For the minutes and hours subsections, all numbers reflect hours. So 1320 is 1320 hours.

One Frame Exposure Intervals is how often you record one frame.

So looking at the chart, if you wanted to make a 20 second scene of an action that occurs over 4 hours, you would need one exposure every 30 seconds.
