After turning the camera on from a battery change or long down time, does pressing rec check keep timecode continuous?

What is the best way to keep timecode continuous when going from vcr mode (to watch footage) back to camera mode (to resume recording)?

After setting the timecode in preset, does switching to regen help to ensure continuous timecode when powering off or playing back?

Any general guidelines to ensure continuous timecode?

Re: timecode

You can set your timecode to be like a clock. It will still continue even if your not recording anything. Is this what you talking about? If so, I believe you need to set it to FREE RUN in the menu.

Re: timecode

Yes, pressing "rec chk" will make the camera back up 3 seconds and play them back for you to make sure the tape is at the correct position. While playing the camera will sync up with the "old time code" and when you press rec again it will continue creating time code where you stopped.

For normal use I recommend setting the TC to regen, and use the "rec chk" to avoid problems. This is the proper way to avoid breaks in the time code.

When I start recording on a new tape I normally use preset on timecode, and set it to 00:00:00:00. Then at first rec break I switch it to regen, and use the "rec chk" to resume.
If the project needs more than one tape I use the hour field to number the tapes, ie: 01:00:00:00 for tape 1, 02:00:00:00 for tape 2 and so on. This way I can quickly see what tape the material is on just by looking at the time code.
