Timecode Woes

Hey Guys/Girls....

Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong. I have been shooting Beta for years, so I'm not a newbie...but I keep having timecode issues with the DVX. I always start a project by presetting timecode: 01:00:00:00, in record run.
As the shoot progresses I am looking at actors, framing, lighting, the usual, I am not usually concentrating on TC. What's happening is that time code seems to go back every so often, say from 01:10:00:00 to 01:07:00:00 (arbitrary numbers). This is noticed by my editor after the shoot of course.

I'm sure this is happening if I view a clip after I've shot it. Sometime's the client will want to review a scene, or I simply want to check it. I'll get to the end of the scene and move on. Is it because maybe I am in black and not timecode video at the end? I am excelling in giving my editor headaches here and I need to stop doing that. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

74 - When you first set up the TC you are in Preset to record a few seconds of bars or black at a specific time. Are you then changing it to REGEN before you start shooting so it picks up from the last TC after you review clips?
Also, if you are reviewing clips while shooting, make sure you use the "record review" button to re-cue your tape before continuing with the shoot.

I think you nailed it for me. I always record 1 minute of bars at the head of a tape. It seems that once I do that I should switch to REGEN (from Pre-Set) and all should be right.

Hopefully that solves your problems. Don't forget to use the record review button too so you are not breaking Control track or TimeCode with short breaks in the recording. That's a sure fire way to screw up NLE capturing.
