Timecode not matching up on MiniDv deck

Before I got my Sony GVD1000 MiniDv deck, I logged my tape from the camera. Now that I have my deck, I was reviewing the tape in the deck and I noticed the timecode doesn't match up to the ones I have written down. I thought there is only 1 timecode that is printed on the tape at the time of recording. Actually what I noticed is that its off by one number in the hours column. For example I have 12:57:11:00 written down in my log. But on my deck it reads 2:57:11:00. So I guess this means that I am going to have re log the entire tape from the deck to get to the timecode the deck is showing. Why would it do that? I should be able to take my MiniDV tape out of my camera and put it into any MiniDv device that can read timecode and be able to see the same exact timecode.

Re: Timecode not matching up on MiniDv deck

I know this is insanely simple...but is it possible you wrote it down wrong? Were you in Rec Run or Free Run? Did you set the TC to hour 12?

Re: Timecode not matching up on MiniDv deck

Just did a test and Final Cut Pro sees the correct timecode. Why its not showing up on the deck is besides me!

Re: Timecode not matching up on MiniDv deck

Probably a stupid suggestion - Are you sure that your GVD1000 deck has a two digit hours display? Not familiar with it, but the consumer DV deck DHR1000 only has a single digit hour field for its timecode display!! Just thought that might be the case because your stated displayed timecode is just missing the first digit.
