Timecode for dummies

Coming from a DSLR shooting I have had no interaction with time code

I guess the basic purpose is to shoot multicam and then the footy will 'pop' into synch on the timeline (FCP6)

-Will I be able to set this to work FS100 / EX1

-when they roll together
-globally (ie maybe not rolling together)

- Probably a question fo a different part of the board but could I feed the 'master' TC from my (future) FS100 into the audio of a DSLR or SD 702 (not T) recorder

I guess I would need a black box of some nature?

Or do I have a 'master TC' going on the black box and feed that into the camera(s)

Could I get one of those fancy slates and roll with it in shot with a DSLR and use that to sysnch?

bunp ! could be a good reason to keep the EX1 which I see as a fine B cam (long lens shots) with the FS100
