Timecode for DSLR?

Hi guys,

I'm getting read to setup a shoot to film a "music video". We'll be recording the band playing during a rehearsal, and then the band playing in a live setting. This way we'll be able to get tight shot of the band and instruments during rehearsal, and wide shots with the audience during the live portion. I've done this in the past and syncing up 5 cameras over 6 takes can be a huge expense of time. The band plays along to a click and some tracks, so I'm wondering if there is a way to setup timecode to be wirelessly broadcast to our DSLR's from the computer that is playing the click/track. That way in post I'd be able to sync up all the shots from the different takes and it'd be rock solid. Due to the slight variations of each performance, using something like PluralEyes and the camera audio has not been that beneficial in the past. Any ideas? Thanks!

Depending on the capabilities of your software, you could send timecode to each camera and record on an audio channel. It will probably bleed to the other channel, so don't plan on using any camera audio. But then you need software that will read the timecode for you to use it. I think Media Composer can do this, but might be wrong. I don't think other nle's will pull timecode from an audio track. Wireless is probably what you want, one transmitter and multiple receivers.

Pluraleyes might be able to key in on the waveforms and sync everything.
