Time to Give Up on D90/D5000 Firmware Update?

I decide to buy the D300s and they were sold out. Robert's Camera two store in Indianapolis . I saw one lady who just bought one o saturday, but I was going to get it sunday before we came home. They were sold out when I got there on sunday. They said the D300s has been a big selling camera. As soon as I put the demo back on the shelf another guy started looking at it. The local newspaper guy here said he put a proposal in to buy 3 more D300s.
They did have Canon's 7D in stock. I played around with one but I have to tell you I thought it felt really uncomfortable in my hands. Nothing like a Nikon. I guess it might be what you are used to.

The salesperson said all DSLRs are meant for short video clips and if used for video cameras they are going to just fry the insides of the camera. I can kind of see that. I don't know if that is true but when they put time limits and they shut down when they get to hot I can see it might have some bad effects on the inside of a camera.

I still think the DSLRs are going to be best used for films, journalist, music videos. Maybe not so good for events.

Ya probably not events, because all the Zacuto rigs are so damn expensive! For events, I will stick with my DVX (or any other prosumer or professional camera), but I am going to probably start doing docs, shorts and maybe music videos on my T2i.

I agree from an ergonomics standpoint.

However, if you're focusing on video & you have it on your rig or your steadycam or your slider, then the 'in hand' ergonomics don't matter at all.

Im just living with it as is. Ive produced some okay shorts with the d5000 and Ill just have to adapt to it as is. The ingredients to nice video are: Lots of light (real or artificial), Steady Shots, and pro res (to me it really makes a difference)

how exactly does pro res make a difference. just curious.
