Time to choose...between GH4, Sony A7, d7100, Samsung nX1

I have to post here because I feel the other recommendations you've received are a bit off, given what you've said so far. Yes, the NX1 and GH4 would also be at the top of my list, IF you had the budget to buy a new PC and a selection of good lenses. If the budget you mentioned, 1500 Euro, is for everything, you would be out of luck because just the camera body would be close (NX1 = $1300) or over (GH4 = $1700). Figure at least $1000 for a good stabilized zoom lens for either camera, and another good chunk for a new PC.

What I would recommend instead for your specific requirements would be a Sony RX10. The weak points first: it's a 1 inch sensor (roughly similar to Super 16mm from what I understand), and the clips are limited to 30 minutes. The strong points: it has everything you need to start shooting, for $1000. The lens on it is beyond the capabilities of every other camera in this class (DSLR/Hybrid) that everyone has mentioned so far: it's a 24-200mm (35mm full frame equivalent) with a f/2.8 constant aperture! There is a switch to make the aperture ring clickless and stepless! It has a built-in 3 stop ND filter! Do not underestimate any of these specs. I would say that they are all hugely useful for what you are interested in doing (documentaries), and no other camera in this class has them. The camera also has built-in mic and headphone jacks, so you could skip the separate recorder if you needed or wanted. With the 2.0 firmware update, it can do either AVCHD 24mbps codec, or XAVC-S 50mbps codec, so you have flexibility to try to suit your computer. Finally, regarding the 1 inch sensor, remember how many documentaries have been shot in the 16mm/Super 16 format. Oh, and the image quality is great too. Definitely no major glaring problems with what it produces, from what I've seen and read.

Definitely read and watch all the reviews and sample videos on this camera before you make your decision. It's really a hidden gem that a lot of people with similar requirements to yours unfortunately skip over because they're not aware of it and its strengths.

Does vegas have a workflow for h.265?

No not yet too. I transcode to ProRes or DNxHD and import easily to vegas.

Works even with slowest of computers.

The format issue of the nx1 is only an issue if you can't spare time for transcoding, if you can't, needto deliver fast straight off the camera, the nx1 is not the one for you!

Ebrahim i remember you were a fan of Nikon, did you step to NX1? If you did, how do you feel with NX1?
Thx and Happy Easter
