im bout to shoot a movie with fight scenes that i want some shots in slow motion. but not the whole fight. i was gonna shoot 60i and convert to 24p and play at 40% or somethin like that.

but ive been hearing alot about time remaping lately and it seems to be a better way to go. just shoot 24p and remap in post.

whats yalls opinion? 60i or 24p time remap?

Shooting 60i gives you more motion to work with. What sounds better?

-24p slowed down, or

-60i to 24p THEN slowed down.

tell me though, if i shot the hole fight in 60i and then added it to a 24p timeline, wouldnt the hole fight run in slow motion? what im sayin is doesnt the act of turning 60i into 24p automaticly make it slow motion(not total slow motion, but slightly slow motion) becuz u are playin it back at 40% of wat it was shot at?

for example if i shot a hole movie in 60i then put into 24p timeline, the hole movie would run in slow motion. is that correct?

If your on a mac, using 60i deinterlace to 60p in after effects....then use Final Cut Studios optical flow method of slowing things down...I love using AE to do it but making 60p then optical flow = awesome.

Actually you'll have to do some tests on this to see which one you like better. Time remapping is slightly different from slow motion in that you're actually ramping the speed instead of keeping it at a constant level. It can give you some cool effects but I'm not sure how the 60i vs. 24p argument play out; the advantage of 24p is at some point you'll want to revert back to a normal speed and get the 24p motion. It's difficult to ramp 60i into 24p.
