Time of Day not being recorded

Hi There,

My dvx100a seems NOT to be recording the time of day stamp on the miniDV tape. Hence, when I try to do a DV SCENE Extraction from my AVID it is not putting in MARKERS on the captured footage.

I tried google, DVXuser, and I can't seem to find an answer. I remember on the Canon Cameras there is a battery that has to be inserted to run the clock but I can't seem to find one on the DVX100A

NOTE: I sent in the unit for service to Panasonic and it DID work before, now that it's back it doesn't.

It's a drag trying to jump scenes in AVID without my trusty RED MARKERS there to guide me through the purple rain.

Any ideas, suggestions, rebuttals, pointers, or should I just hand in my punch card and call it a career?

Thanks in advance.

There is an internal battery, it isn't exchangeable but it is rechargeable. Pull out the battery, hook the camera up to AC power, and leave it turned off overnight. I think that's the procedure... look in the manual if in doubt.

Look at the User Bits also; I don't use Avid so I don't know specifically what it's looking for but you can change what info gets recorded in the User Bits and if Avid is looking for the user bits, you want to make sure that you give it the right stuff.

Normally, Avid will set a marker at scene change if you ask Media Composer to do so.

So, maybe it's the internal battery that is dead. Follow Barry's suggestion to recharge it.
