This project wrapped up last fall, but I never got around to posting about it...this is a music video that I directed and DP'd last summer featuring a track by a local singer-songwriter who I used to work with years ago. I don't do too much music video work, so this was a fun change of pace!
The video is a blend of narrative and performance, with the narrative stuff shot entirely in natural light in the Sierra Nevada foothills and Monterey/Big Sur coast of California.
The performance was shot in the CMAC studio in Fresno, CA. Everything was lit with tungsten -- a combination of 750W lekos and 300W scoops, all routed through a DMX board on which I had pre-programmed a series of simple cues.
Camera was my Sony FS7 with an Angenieux Optimo 16-42mm T2.8 and a 1/4 black pro mist. I used an EasyRig Vario 5 with Serene arm for the narrative scenes and a Dana dolly for the performance stuff.
Music written & performed by Tom Scott
Featuring Forrest Ferguson & Nina Ferguson
Guitar: Mike Taylor
Director/DP: Matt Mealer
1st Assistant Camera: Evan Christensen
Dimmer op: Jim Weaver
Grip: Katie McQuone Botello
