Time lapsing on Mini DV tapes?

Sorry probably posting on the wrong board, but most people come here. Just wondering how you can set the Mini DV tape to 'Time Lapsing' or something similar. Really wanting some clouds flying by and fastfowarding in final cut doesnt seem to work too well. 1 frame every 2 seconds or so?

Thanks in advance

BTV Pro and iStopMotion - IIRC let you do frame grabs from tape.

Sorry haven't used either in many, many moons.
Did a car thingy with iStop a long time ago, least I think it was iStop ... may have BTV Pro ...

Thats bizzare, a mate from filmschool did it on the schools panasonic ccd camera, and they get sold for around 1-2k. Is it possible shooting a time laps on the HVX200 in 576 on p2? Or p2 at all?

Another option would be to just capture the DV output from the camera using software without going to tape at all.

MiniDV implies SD DV25, and that is a format that the free CaptureFlux program supports. It can do timelapse, so you could have it grab frames from the DV stream at the rate you want.
