I just went out and did this tonight. It was originally only 75 frames or so then I doubled it and added in some extra frames. I'm going to try and do some other stuff like this when I have the time. I got this idea after watching this guys stuff in which he does something like this except on a motion control rig. I used a remote on this so the camera wouldn't move. I wish the camera had a intervalometer. It would make this so much easier. Should be good for some 2nd. unit stuff.

Isara thanks. Your stuff looked cool also. In fact that piece you did was much better than the other 360 videos you did. Mainly because you took the camera to different places.

Sorry disjecta, I'll make a QT 6 video just for you damn PC people. I'll post it here.

Hey, you're not only leaving out the "damn PC people", but a lot of us mac users who haven't upgraded to QT7 yet. (And it'll be a while for me, seeing as how I am in the middle of a project right now.)

Anyway, I like the shot. It fits well with the music, and flows smoothly with the frames doubled. :)

Yeah, nice job...really like the streaks....were you shooting with one of the ultra slow shutter speeds?

That's awesome!

We really have to get an archival footage thing going...
Something like this could help alot of people.

could you explain how you did this better please....did you use your time lapse in your dvx 100 camera? or did you shoot for a couple seconds and speed this up and repeat it...you weren't very clear....it looks great...did you shoot this in 24p mode 30p mode or 60i....I'm curious because I want to do some timelapse on my dvx 100a and this looks GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please just explain exactly how you did this step by step

thanks in advance Ronster

Thanks for all the comments. First off I didn't film this with my DVX. I used my Canon Digital Rebel and a remote I just bought. I kept the shutter open for 2 seconds on each frame. Then I took all those frames and put them into a 24p timeline in FCP. I used the medium setting on the camera, which has a higher resoultion than HD. I'm going to do some more of this when I have the chance.

Brandon, that would be a good idea to get a collection of archival footage together like this. I know this has been discused before on this site. I would be more than happy to let people use stuff like this for free. All I would want is the credit.

drew, im friends with matt wenhardt. not that it has to do with anything. but i just wanted to say that this test looks pretty sick. and also that short film you shot with the girl talking by herself in the white room. that was pretty good too.

matt and i always say how we admire you for your motivation to just go and and keep shooting. keep it up.

Daniel

Thanks DeathorGlory, but I think you have me confused with someone else. I never did a short with a girl in a white room.

Who would we talk to about getting a DVXuser archive footage going?

Everyone could give what they have and in return they would get a credit from the productions that use it.

It would be free, and very helpful.

Brandon, I think we really don't have to talk to anyone about getting archive footage together. I'm sure its more of an agreement between the two parties. It would be nice to have a section on DVXuser where people could post footage that others could use. I guess the main problem is delivery of the footage. You could download it online but that might take a while and the space to store it might be too much a pain in the ass. People could use some kind of IM to send it. I know you can do that in iChat and AIM. Or you could pay for the shipping of a DVD from the person that has the fooatge you want. All you would have to do is pay for the DVD and the shipping and whatever else the person needs to give up their footage. As far as getting a section on DVXuser just for archivel footage I think it would have to be mentioned to the mods or the big boss man.

Patryk, I have seen your short before and I really liked it, other than that damn clicking noise. I would really like to get a 20D to do my own stuff with. How fast does the 20D process images? That's my main problem with my Digital Rebel. It can only do so many pictures before it needs a little breather. I'm going to go out and get some more footage tonight, which I'm sure will end up on here later on tonight.

Bluespider, the original resolution was 2048x1360. It was the medium setting on a 6.3 megapixel camera. I figure there's no reason to have it at 3072x2048, which is the highest setting on the camera. The lowest setting is just below HD resolution.
