Time Lapse Shooting

Hey DVX'rs, Looking for some input on how to shoot some Time Lapse on the DVX200, I have read Barry's EBook, and understand some things but still a little confused.

EXAMPLE: I want to shoot long streaming tail lights in high traffic in a night shot. Duh! I'm not sure what VFR setting I would choose, and the shutter speed, I know I would have to experiment with ISO.
Can I create Time Lapse in UHD? If anyone here has experience in shooting Time Lapse with the DVX200 and can explain the in camera settings, that would be cool:happy:

To get the blurry tail lights, you need a long shutter time. Experiment with times between 1/4" and 1". For my timelapses, I leave shutter and aperture on auto and lock ISO at something reasonable (on my 5 I found 800 works well.) If you leave ISO on auto, it will gain up to keep shutter speed faster, which means you will lose your tail lights.

Not sure with your camera but for the effect you're looking for I set my Lumix G7 to iso 400, 2-3" shutter speed, F stop around 6.3 - 11 with a 2 or 3 stop stop ND lens filter and manual white balance.

I suggest using VFR shooting in 4K (not UHD) to get the highest resolution frames possible with the camera. To get the look you want, experiment as you are setting up....take a frame, examine, adjust, rinse & repeat. Once you get a single frame look you like....let it fly!

I don't have a DVX200, I have a Sony FS700 but it too shoots VFR.
First, the trick to this is in the shutter speed, you need a slow shutter
so that the lights will 'smear'. So 1FPS and a shutter speed of 1 second
will often work well for giving you the look you are after when shooting
traffic. Obviously you need to lock the camera down on a tripod so that
the 'motion blur' only occurs on moving subjects, and not from handheld
'jitters.' Keep your ISO as low as you can, while still getting proper
exposure, so as to keep grain down.
