Time Lapse Settings for Sun rise/set

What settings do you guys use? What f stop would you use for sunrise and get the right exposure before the sun comes up? Shutter speed?

I am going to time lapse the sun rise and sun set on both coast in FL in one day. Any advice/info will help. Thanks

Many factors go in to this decision. We need some more info (as usual). Which camera exactly? Do you have the Barry Green scene file mod? How much P2 space do you have? Can you practice the day before?

HVX200A. I do not have those scene files. My camera and do 2,4,8,16 frames 1,2,5,10,30 seconds and also 1,5,10 minutes. I have two 32gb cards so I have plenty of P2 space.

If your camera can do 2 frames then you have had it modded at some point. It would only do 12 from the factory. Exposure is the tricky part. That is why I recommend testing the day before. To be safe if would try the middle ND setting and auto iris. This may result in some shifts but unless you want to expose for bright and by very dark in the beginning or expose for dark and be over exposed when the sun pops up this will be your only option. I never use auto iris but timelapse is a different bird.

Shutter speed will depend on whether you want clean motion or lots of blur.
