Time lapse (interval recording) on HVX200

Thank you for for the replay Professor i must change my shutter speed? to what? if i use the hack at 4fps how can i know when the shutter speed is ok?

If you change it you will see what gives you the look you are going for. Short shutters look more stroby. Long shutters look smoother. Usually if you want stroby over a long time you can just shoot with interval recording.

Guys,

The last time I shot with a hacked camera, my timelapse of-more-than-4GBs resulted in a broken clip. It would not immediately play back, and I thought I had lost it. But, the clip was able to be repaired using the included utilities.

Peace,
Andrew

Agh, powerful images. I love the one of the red clouds and sun setting, very powerful and kinda 'dark' at the same time, dramatic. I love it.

So 1 frame every 2 seconds, and did you use a 35 mm adapter if so what advice can you convey?

Don't own an adapter - and wouldn't help much on these types of shots anyway

For the cars at intersection, did you also use same settings and what shutter speed (if that has any bearing on a frame - not sure so I thought I should ask)

I used the hack at 2fps for that one- otherwise, would not have the light streaks

PS: I liked the music on your reel, too.

Thanks!

Question, I've successfully done this shooting 2fps in "native" recording mode onto P2. However, now I want to try using a couple of daisy chained FS-100's and shoot for a couple of days. I know that the FS-100 does not recognize any data streaming from the HVX in "native" mode... so, would it be correct if I set the HVX to 720 30p (non native), the master FS-100 to Quicktime with the interval on FS-100 to 00:00:00:15, and Local Control mode? Are there any other settings necessary on the FS-100?

Also, I noticed when I switch the HVX out of native mode, I no longer see the 2fps effect on the built in LCD monitor. Am I losing the 2fps ability, or is the LCD display only showing the 30fps because I'm out of "native" mode... and the HVX will still see 2fps at 350d shutter?

Holy threadjack, Batman.

By using the firestore you are committing to interval recording. You won't have the same streaks as if you use the 2fps hack. If you want the hack, you've gotta pack (p2 cards, that is).

2fps to 30fps is only a factor of 15. If you shot for three days straight it would take you almost 5 hours to watch it. Unless you're making Koyaanisqatsi 2 you're probably looking for a slower frame rate.

You could use 2 64 GB p2s and get 250+ minutes (not even including the extra space for no audio) of realtime recording which would probably get you very close to 3 days.

What did I do wrong with this hack...
