Time elapsed shots

Can someone fill me in on time elapsed shots? If I set the camera to take a shot every 10 minutes, will the camera stay turned on for those ten minutes are will it shut off and come back on?

When taking time elapsed footage of the sky, what is the best settings for time elapsed?

Any input on this subject would be appreciated.

Thanks HansK. I took a look at the links and it answered a lot of my questions.

Should I assume then that the internal timer will run the entire time the camera is on while doing the elapsed shots? Does it stay on the whole time (thus running down the battery)? Thanks.

Good question and I'm not sure. There was a whole thread of comments about this and I don't know if it ever got answered. It's buried on the board somewhere.

I'm personally not worried about it. Unless, of course, I planned to do months and months of time lapse.
