AC160 Time code sync

thanks Barry; not sure if I know the difference between jam and sync - i thought these were different terms that mean the same thing?
 
Jamming typically means that one camera is sending its timecode to another, and the other is receiving its timecode from the first, continuously, by means of a cable connection.

The AF100/AC160 can't continually receive timecode (or continually send it). They must run independently in free-run mode. What you can do is start them off by receiving timecode from another device, but then to actually record you have to break that cable connection.

In practice, generally they're roughly equivalent, as there usually won't be much (if any) timecode drift, and you can always re-sync them throughout the day by plugging the cable back in and going through the sync process. But in a true timecode jamming system, they could never ever get out of sync, because one camera is receiving its timecode physically from another one via a cable, during recording.

So once i get my 160 this should be as simple as connecting the cameras via RCA male to male and following the instructions you gave in the AF100 book?
 
I am trying to sync timecode from an AC160 (master) to an HMC150 and AF100 (slaves).
The link worked flawlessly to the HM150.
On the AF100 get a message 'TC LINK NG'
I have been looking online to figure out what this message means and am having no luck.

Could you enlighten me on this please!

UPDATE: I still don't know what the error means but I tried using a different wire for the connection and it worked and the message was TC LINK OK
I guess NG mean No Good.
