Time Code Settings with DVX-100a

Hey Guys,
Just wanted to check to see if there's anything I have to do to activate the time code on the DVX-100a. Is it automatically set and ready to go or must I go into menu and set it up? Thanks for your help.
Dave
p.s. I'll be shooting in 24PA mode if that makes a difference.

It comes from the factory set to generate rec-run/regen/NDF timecode. You can change it if you want, but it'll automatically record it with those defaults.

Apple - If you are doing anything for broadcast you should change the menu setting to drop-frame. If not, your time will be a bit off on an extended length program. I believe it adds up to about 18 frames every 10 minutes. No big deal for the home movies but that 1/2 sec. every ten minutes can add up in a broadcast program.

You cannot select DF when using 24P mode.
Aaah! So it's a true 24p, not 23.976p? Does it matter then if I edit in a 23.976p timeline? My guess would be it doesn't, as long as I am not bringing in another source that was recorded as 23.976.

Not that it would make difference for my 2 minute nature shots.

It runs at 23.976 fps. Each frame gets sequentially numbered, no frames are dropped out of the timecode stream. The result is that the timecode will not be an exact match to the running time, but any decent NLE should be able to support both DF and NDF.
