Time code breaks stumping me

Not that stumping me on DVX is difficult at the moment; however, I just shot my first full tape of footage. While doing so, I never rewound the tape to look at stuff. So, the only breaks, footage-wise, are start-stop recording commands. However, it appears that every time I do that I get a TC break of about 7 frames or so. This, of course, plays havoc in FCP. Anyone else experienced this? Do I need to use the REC CHK function every time I start and stop and new take? That seems awfully inconvenient, not to mention causing unwarranted wear on the heads. Please, save me from this TC demon.

May have solved my own problem. Had the TC set to Preset instead of Regen. This seems to have solved the issue, although I've only done limited testing. Still, any TC advice is appreciated.

What TC settings are you working with ? ( and no, you do not have to REC CHK each take)
