tilted horizon

Does anybody else have a problem leveling their camera or is it just me? I've spent a lot of time using my unnamed tripod bubble level and measuring with an external level and yet my HVX seems to give a horizon that dips to one side...very slight but there.
Is it possible that the camera is predisposed to a lean?

Hi,
I don't have this kind of problem but have you tried another good tripod? Because maybe if the bubble lever is right on your tripod, it is not 100% sure that the plate you're using is too.

Laurent.

Put your level on the camera and not the tripod..If the bubbles looks level it is level..Unless something is out of wack inside the camera?

I'm trying to find out if anybody else has found a tilt in the frame of their HVX. I don't think it's a flaw, more a slight bias or asymmetry that is within the design parameters for the camera.

Is it all across the frame?
When I was shooting ocean shots in Hawaii the HVX200 was wide enough that at times the corners of the frame would dip down.

I also felt that the what I saw in the LCD as level would look tilted to the left upon viewing the footage. So, I always biased my shots so they looked a bit tilted to the right in the LCD. :)

Who knows, it could just be the way I titled my head looking at the LCD. But, I always used a bubble level in the hot shoe of the camera to double check.

I thought there was a bit of adjustment from experience needed...I was trying to find folks with the same discovery.
What part of Hawaii? Love that place...wish I could figure out how to live there. Sigh...

Just ordered a Jobu Design JOLDA 2 Axis Flash Hot Shoe Bubble Level.....

If you have a cheaper tripod, chances are it's also lighter. If it's light, it's very possible that the hvx is weighing the piece above the level down to one side, because the camera isn't made with a perfect center of balance.

Make sure all your knobs are very tight.
