Tilt shift lens for GH1 and miniature city perspective?

is there anything else people use tilt shift lenses for except making cities look like minatures , with timelapse.. ?? have to admit first one i saw i thought wow .. but its getting pretty old now as theres so many around now.

If this is what I'm thinking of, it could be used to 'straighten' lines when tilting the camera, which normally produces the exaggerated convergence of parallel lines.

Normally if the film plane is not parallel to the surface of the building, parallel lines are distorted. By 'tilting the lens', you can correct for that to some degree.

The other use would be to allow a foreground object to be in focus as well as distant background, without having to stop way down.

Look for view camera techniques for 'details' on how this works.

Doing the adjustment 'in camera' allows for the full frame data to be used. Doing this adjustment in post, requires that the image be resampled in the adjustment process and perhaps cropped. Hence losing data.
