Yeah, I don't agree with that all, very silly to me.
I have zero doubt about it

right, but of course influencers aren't just fooling around. they work more than full-time hours to sustain their following.
I do a lot of work for Christie's auction house, all of which goes on their website, on their projections at the venue, and on Instagram (and to a lesser extent youtube). Basically they orient the video formatting and length for instagram (but typically do both a 16x9 and 9x16 version). late last year, they told me they started making videos for tiktok too. (which I believe is just called making a TikTok.) I'm not sure what they put on TikTok and how it factors into their video strategy, but evidently TikTok is becoming a platform for corporate/sales videos as well. (Christie's is essentially running a home shopping channel for fine art and jewelry/design/collectibles)
Vertical video looks better for a lot of this content, period, IMO.
Any attributions to laziness are from girls who don't get it like Charli said. lol
It's only a matter of time before corporations ruin TikTok like they did to Youtube where you are bombarded incessantly with ads and the biggest channels who are backed by a team dominate the space, pushing individual creators to obscurity.

TikTok seems like a surreal world where everyone is famous...and it's about the personal experiences and the little things, so I don't see it changing much.
Even if it does, it would have cooler product placement that almost in a way makes fun of itself.
Like people make all kinds of simple videos every day...could be just eating a bowl of cereal with a fork over a voiceover and weird music...and that could be an AD for Cheerios. I'd rather see that than more of the professional marketing from yesteryear.
It has it's place, and hopefully it will stay in Tik Tok until the teens reach, say, 22 and are old enough to rule the world, when they'll declare everything that came before irrelevant and people who cling to old beliefs, irrelevant too..

They've engaged a new marketing director. Degree ink hardly dry. He hates everything we produced for 17 years, and it IS old fashioned because all their customers who use it for seeing the new products and services offered each year are over 50. I was asked to send a showreel with evidence of 'contemporary attitudes to video production'. After 17 year of direct contact of me to the Managing Director, I now had to go through this new person. I contacted the MD and said it had been great working for them over the years but I could not work with their new marketing person, so I wished them well and walked away. I got a panicky email a couple of months later from the new person asking if I had all the content I had shot of their recent factory move - I said yes I did have it. Another mail followed frustratedly asking me to let them have it. "But I don't work for you any longer?" I'd not been paid for this - I shot the material every time the factory manager called me to say a new machine was arriving. So a morning here, and afternoon there, and we'd not even discussed a price - our assumption being we'd just carry on the old system. I told the new guy that I did not wish to work with them as he had been totally dismissive and bordering on rude, and his niceness only started when he wanted something. I still have it and one day, the material might be worth enough for them to need it. Their new marketing department are still putting their stuff out on twitter and Facebook, plus Tik Tok and a few others - platforms their customers clearly never use. Facebook tends to be useful to older people of course but their advertising system is less effective and this company don't even use their Facebook presence - they have one, but a handful of 'friends'.
TikTok is basically America’s Funniest Videos on a massive scale where everyone’s silly videos get seen. It gives everyone their 15 minutes of fame. How could something like that not be incredibly popular?
This isn’t a radical change in media itself, it’s just embracing & amplifying something that has been popular since the 80s.
wouldn't make a blanket statement but generally the next generation commonly wants to replace what came before.
I think it's a matter of judgement of knowing when to use new tech. When people first get out of school they can sometimes get carried away. Often it takes time to be adopted by the general public or a new tech might not fit that customer base. I don't think I could run a clients social media presence. That reminds me of a time when I was the "new" guy pushing new technology on a client. Back in the 1980's I was doing some video work for the US Forest Service's Utah office and I had to talk them into doing the production on video because the guy they had in charge only wanted to do multi-projector slide shows. I won and they turned out to be a great client over the years. Now someone else is probably pushing them to do vertical videos for watching on a phone and I'd be the old guy.

Inflation is up. Groceries, gas—lots of things cost more. How has it affected YOU? If you upload a short video showing that to YouTube or Rumble and send the link to XXXYYY (name deleted, DLD), I might use it in a video about inflation.
