Hi guys...

I have just bought a Tiffen 82mm clear filter to protect the lens on my HVX-200.
However (I'm probably being very silly here) but I thought it would be a case of just taking the hood off and screwing the filter into the lens bit, however it appears not to be the case.

I'm probably just being silly here and the answer is probably right in front of me but could do with a bit of advice here.

Thank you. :dankk2:

HeyIndy,

I have the 82mm Tiffen UV Protector on my unit and I don´t think it´s the slim line one. I mean, the one I have is pretty fat and it fits just right. But I could be wrong. Good luck with yours.

You don't need a slim line filter at all although having one doesn't hurt. But the HVX doesn't vignette with a single 82mm filter of any kind. As long as you have an 82mm filter, you are set.

Originally the 82mm filters Tiffen sold in the blue cardboard boxes didn't work with the lens hood on. Then they changed the filter size slightly and started shipping them in white plastic cases which did work.

Hi guys..thanks for your help...
although I'm more confused than ever now....

There was just no way that filter could have fitted on the lens, (unless I'm doing something really silly, I thought it would just be a case of taking the hood off, and screwing the filter thread to thread).

The text on the filter said 82mm and the text on the HVX-200 says 82mm,
I mean there's only one way of threading the filter on the lens with the thread side of the filter pushing up against the lens side of the camera.
I took the hood off with the little screw thing at the side, gave the hood a twist off it came, placed the filter against the outer part of the lens and it was just waaayyy to big...

The lens came in a white/clear plastic box/tray thing..

Really confused...

Cheers

Cheers guys, but I've just sent it back to the shop...

not much point in having a filter that doesn't fit..
I'll see what occurs with the next one they send..
