Tiffen Haze v.s. UV filter

I'm looking for a new quality UV filter for my DVX, and was wondering if these Tiffen filters at B&H would work. I've found 2; one says its a UV haze filter; the other simply says UVP / UV filter. From what I've read, I've always believed UV and Haze to be the same thing -- so why are thre two different products? There are also other brands to consider like canon & schneider -- which is the preffered brand I should look into?

whats the difference?

Or, maybe i should consider some even higher quality glass filters for the DVX -- any recommendations? (ebay has lots of filters for cheap)

edit: Anyone know how the Hoya Super Multi Coated UV filters compare to the Tiffens?

I tried a Tiffen UV Haze Filter but found it too dark for some inside shoots. I would suggest a hi-quality clear filter that can remain on inside as well as out.

The filter descriptions on the EVS site are way too minimal (c'mon guys, at least publish Tiffen's own specs).
The Tiffen filters vary in the amount of UV they absorb. According to their catalog:
UV Protector (for "basic UV reduction") pulls out the least UV.

Haze 1 absorbs 3/4 of the UV.

Haze 2 absorbs almost all UV light.

UV17 absorbs slightly less than Haze 2.
None of them will darken your image in any way...they're almost clear.

Digicams need no UV filtering, the sensor is not sensetive to UV.

Clear porotection filter is enough.

If you have a usable UV filter there is no harm using it, but no need to pay for new UV filtering anymore.
