Thundercats the Movie

For fans of the original cartoon, how cool would this be?

Not very cool, as I don't fetishize d-grade Saturday morning cartoons that I may have enjoyed back when I had neither pubic hair or critical thinking skills. Hollywood actually is planning to scrape the bottom of the pop culture barrel to make this movie, as there is a screenplay floating around...Yeah, I woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

lol :D

Yeah, I agree with you that pretty much anything on saturday morning tv in the '80s was chock-full of cheesy goodness ("Thundercats! Ho?"), but you can't tell me Vin Diesel doesn't make a perfect Panthro!

That's an incredible looking trailer, man. Considering that none of it is real and all recreated from existing material by FANS.

Wow.

I actually used to watch this cartoon after school with my brother. That and He-Man. Total 80's cartoon trash but while we were eating our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches we loved it.

As much as I loved Thundercats when I was a little tyke, I have to pretty much agree completely with Batutta. I mean if anyone is going to spend hundreds of millions on some sort of sci-fi/fantasy, weird superheroey - space opera - action film; then why not adapt similar yet stronger source material, or create something new that has more dramatic weight and a better overall concept? I know, it already has a built in audience, but besides that why make this? Pre-built audience shouldn't be the only reason for a movie to exist.

Having said that, the trailer is very cool and I give the fan(s) who spent all the time and effort to make this a lot of respect for their hard work.

O' sure! Cartoons have become a remarkable trend now days. What an awesome trend of cartoons in Hollywood?

I don't know what you're talking about, but I'm referring to the fact that first there was a live-action Transformers film, with a GI-Joe film on the way, and I wouldn't be surprised if an actual Thundercats movie happened. Oh, wait.... And they were all originally terrible '80s cartoons/toy lines. Not that I'm all that up-in-arms about it, I'm just bored.

Two 80's toy lines I used to love when I was a little tyke were the Rambo figures, which were kinda ridiculous. Too big. There was also a Rambo cartoon.

and

GUTS. Remember these little guys? I though these were so cool. There were different types: the scuba guys, the South American merc guys, green berets, ninjas, etc. If I remember correctly they came in two packs. I used to spend my allowance money on them when I'd go to the grocery store with my mom. Fun times.

Of course I'm not saying that there should be a Rambo cartoon and GUTS live action film.

It's like a trivia game. Name the film or TV show that was ripped off...

Troy, Pitch Black, Farscape, The Lord of the Rings...

But keep in mind Transformers and GI Joe were also comic books. I personally have waited for a GI Joe movie because I was a big fan. I liked the Transformers film but I simply wasn't a fan. I watched the show because it was on after (sometimes before) GI Joe. I wouldn't mind a good He-Man movie, wasn't so big on the Thunder Cats, Silver Hawks, Tiger Sharks nor any of the other mix animal name with something cool shows. Thunder Cats did have a great intro though. Also Japanese cartoons are coming. They're supposed to be working on Akira and DBZ I think and some others.

Dolph made a great He-Man I simply didn't like the story. I hate when films that take place in other dimensions but they have to get some help from earth kids to stroke the kid base. The kids liked it without this so why add it.

Ironically enough, I have both a M.A.S.K. outline, and an outline for a new revamp of Masters of the Universe. My He-man flick is aimed more at the 20-30 somethings who grew up with the cartoon. Think Conan meets Warcraft.
