Throw me a bone here, people ! (Nikon G adapter query)

If you go for a cinema lens with a pl adapter, you could put a follow focus on the zoom gear for smooth zooms. Of course this is not too good for run & gun, and is pricey. But the lenses are keepers and will migrate to other cameras down the line.

You can also see this as an opportunity to expand your camera experience to include cinema-style set ups as well as attached-lens set ups. Once you get used to it, you'll like it.

Panasonic needs to revamp the HVX200 by putting sensors from the GH2 in them.....

If I could have the functionality of the HVX with the video quality of the GH2....

I use the GH2 as B cam on HVX shoots. The client's even see the difference.
I rented an AF100 to see if it would work for my shoots and the lack
of a servo zoom is what killed it for me.

Help and Advice

Hello all,

A request I've received many time over the past few years is to make the absolute best Nikon mount adapter ever. I believe I've done that, but it's currently only available for the Arri Alexa.

My costs is very high on the NikonCine mount due to the craft nature it with a comprehensive list of feature not found in any other Nikon mount adapter (i.e. Stainless steel, no rocking/play, 90-degree orientation and smooth/locking iris control.) So my questions is, would this Nikon mount be of any interest to the micro 4/3 shooters, or is the $399 Novoflex about as expensive as anyone is willing to spend on a Nikon mount? To make it anything but a special order item, the price would likely need to be 2x the Novoflex (and possibly more).

Clearly this mount would cost more than many cheap Nikon lenses, but perhaps for the person who already owns a set of Duclos Cine modded Zeiss ZFs or perhaps someone who just really wants to get the most out of the collection of lenses they already own? I don't know, you tell me. Is it worth porting the NikonCine mount to micro 4/3?

Thanks,

Ilya,

I'd certainly be interested. I have a set of Duclos ZF.2's and in particular I need a mount that properly clamps both the F and micro 4/3 sides of the adapter. Everything I've used so far has a little play on both sides. If it makes it any simpler, I don't need the iris adjustment.

so with the right nokin to m43 adapter you could control the iris on say, a tokina 11-16 or other nikon mount lenses without aperture rings?

If it was perfect (NO PLAY!!!!, PROPER FLANGE DISTANCE, APERATURE CONTROL that was constant and did not move the iris with lens play like the adaptimax I have) I would pay it at this point. I really want something that is a really professional solution as I only use nikon mounted leses. Hell, you guys made a mod that would replace the m4/3 mount with a nikon one that was bolted on, I would be all over that.

Please, specific to Nikon G type lenses. Does the Adaptimax screw-set control the iris effectively, and does manually cranking on it stress the electro-mechanics in any way? I plan to test the camera with a buddy's set of lenses, and don't want to harm them in any way.

If the Adaptimax is ill advised, then is the Novaflex the way to go?

Any other suggestions on how to employ G lenses on the AF100 are vastly appreciated.
