Three Commercial Spots

Re: Three Commercial Spots

I'm not sure which animation at the end you're talking about. For the Tonic Room? They were all kind of intentionally cheesy and silly, with the faux-animation and non-concepts. A lot like those Adult Swim shows on Cartoon Network. Just have to take a little offense because I'm the head motion graphics designer at a production house, so I'm hoping that I know what I'm doing with them (or if not, please don't tell my employer!). Maybe it's just a case of the if's and when's of being ironic. Sometimes, I suppose, your audience will interpret it as just plain junk.

Regardless...welcome to Chicago!

Re: Three Commercial Spots

Maybe someone already said this (just maybe), but I like the off-beat style. ;D

If I had to critique one thing, though, I'd make some of the type clearer. The red text in the Tonic Room clip, for example, is probably damn near illegible on my (uncool) TV set. :P

I'd have to guess that the kitschy sparkles, lighting and 2.5D transitions are the "motion graphics gone bad" that natob2 is referring to. I agree, to some extent -- your animation style is odd, humorous, but not unprofessional, so it kinda abruptly changes at the very end there.

Re: Three Commercial Spots

I thought these three were a riot.

I love the sense of humor and the deliberate "cheesy" style (for example the ever changing mustache).

Great work, very original.
