FS7: Those hairs!

It is time to dig up some old German or Dutch Photomagazines with these 'gründliche' lens tests from 1980 and 90' and put them on the Internet.

Because I don't have these magazines I did a quick setup to check this 50-300 mm nikkor and I was amazed by the details its images have.

The weight of camera and lens is 4,25 kilo which is nice because it ads stability to the tripod.

Not kind of sure what're you testing here. Lens, camera, charts, magazines? :) (and I don't understand what title refers to)

I think it's pretty safe to say that these are lens tests for the Nikkor 50-300 the OP mentioned.

The title to me obviously refers to the 'hairs' visible on the plant stem in the enlarged image #2 ... no?

P.S. Edit, although it's definitely a shame to use the board for posting such small images. If it's a lens/resolution test, shouldn't we actually be able to see the image, and not a slightly-oversized thumbnail?!?

Just a rainy sunday afternoon

I am sure these old lenses have all been tested (but this info is sadly not available on the Internet, because before 1990).
Now there are few resources. (Cannot find any info about this lens besides Rockwell) That is a pity because of this 'old lens revival'.
So I tried a little lens test myself and I was amazed by the quality of the image.

I refer to the Nikkor 50-300mm as the "Howitzer".

It is a beast.

Indeed. Unloaded mine a while back. It was the lesser version of yours (can't remember the acronym). Picked up a Nikon 35-200 recently - seems to be a better trade off in terms of range vs size.
