Was at the shop today to get Benz worked on (darn thing is becoming an albatross, and I just bought it 4 days ago).

But I saw this in the lot. Chome, body, paint, interior mint. If a cop was around I probably would have been arrested for indecency. I am not normally a car guy.......but this 280SE really said something to me.

Completely dissapointed here.

Figured a few of you could appreciate some classic beauty in an automobile. Nah, you guys are all about "drifting" and chirpin' the tires.

Get my age and comfort becomes coupled with performance.

That is a FINE looking machine. Looks like fresh out of the factory in 1970. I rode in a 78 280SE to my high school prom. NO! It wasn't new! Nor was it near as cool as a 1970 280SE.

if late 70s-80s mercs are considered classic, i liked that era mercs. they were not too big or heavy and seemed more focused on making the cars reliable and advanced for their time. the handbrake is the only weird thing about them.

LOL, I own a 1941 Chevy and a 1959 Opel Olympia if that counts :).

Ultimate orgasm on wheels? You must be joking.

The Sexist Car Ever Made title belongs to the Jaguar E-type, aka XK-E, late 1060s series 1.

Second choice for me is either the 1963 Corvette Sting Ray Coupe, or maybe the 1960 Corvette Convertible. I can never decide...

But have I ever owned any of these? Heck no. Who can afford 'em, and who can afford to maintain 'em? What I'm driving now is a 2005 Subaru WRX wagon. Ugly, yes. But it way outperforms those 50 year old cars, and is as reliable as the day is long. Plus, I can load a heck of a lot more video gear in it! What's not to like?

Sold the 1969 Road Runner... :(

Color me stupid but my first impression was Columbo's car, albeit more beat up.

Fine car Doc. I'm impressed actually.

Funny how the grass is always greener on the other side.
Over here most folks want an US car when it comes to classics.

If we are going to go there...

Jaguar-E-Type-Australia.jpg

and possibly the early Triumph of which I cannot find a good picture of.
