This New Mic Might Solve a Couple of DLSR Audio Problems : Rode VideoMic HD

Most important, it seems to have audio-in for using with a lav. Not sure how/if it handles seperate channels, but that would be a huge plus in portable microproductions.

Eagerly awaiting more info.

Unfortunately it doesnt solve the issue that a microphone at the camera is is probably still the worst place to have a microphone.

Depends on perspective. It's the only reasonable place to have a mic if you're: 1) shooting solo, and 2) moving. Since those are my normal shooting conditions, I'm interested in the product.

...You could still boom this mic. Rode make a 10 ft 3.5mm MIC extension that I used a few years ago with the original Rode VideoMic, and it worked quite well. Yes, 10 ft isn't very long, but it's about as long as you can safely go with an unbalanced MIC connection. ( audio monitoring might be a pain when booming this mic )

So what do you think the price will end up at? If it's much more expensive than the H4n recorder I find it really hard to justify buying this.
