This Means War

OK, this not a great movie, but the savaging it got from critics was in no way warranted. Seemed like a "let's dogpile on McG!!!" convention.

The Rotten Tomatoes critics score is 25%. But the audience score is 61%, which is similar to the 6.4 rating on IMDb. That seems fair, and in comparison to what you'd expect from the ridiculously harsh critic reviews, it was Shakespeare.

This is why I don't read reviews very often.

My 13 year old son and his 14 year old friend rented this when we were up north on vacation.

He usually ignores Rotten Tomatoes ratings, as his tastes are - um - less sophisticated than their ratings. He often likes movies that have a very low RT rating. :)

I ususally live & die by Rotton Tomatoes when I don't know anything about a movie. I won't watch anything that is less than about an 85% on RT. I figure life is too short, and there are so many great movies that I have never seen.

I tend toward quircky, obscure, Indie type stuff, or foreign movies - Wim Wenders, Werner Herzog, etc.

I would give "This Is War" an "Excellent", about a 4.2 or higher rating. I enjoyed much more than than the type of thing I often suffer through when he chooses what to watch!

I haven't looked at any reviews or ratings on it. I'll have a look.

We also watched "The Other Guys" with Will Ferrel, etc., for a second time. I appreciated that, as every line was pretty off the wall, almost a non-sequitur. I would rate those 2 movies about the same. I'll have to go see what the ratings for "The Other Guys" are.

Cheers!
Michael
