OK... I've now tried it a couple of different times and it make's no sense.
All I'm trying to do is capture my recently shot 24PA footage into FCP 5, on my powermac G5.
I've got FCP's easy setup for advanced removal, and my capture settings are also set to that. I "capture now" through my playback camera, and it captures for a few minutes till I get the error: "cadence break in removal, blah, blah, blah..." that part of the clip is in my browser, and I begin capturing again.
Well, after capturing all the footage in about six or seven different clips, I look up the properties of the clips, and some of them are 23.98 fps, and some of them are 29.98 fps.
My initial thought? someone moved the dial while shooting.
So... I just tried capturing the SAME footage agian and again, and each time the clips change around from 23.98 to 29.98! That's right, the EXACT SAME footage reads differently each time I capture it. Another wierd thing is that when I re-capture, the "cadence" breaks at totally different times.
So, I've captured the first two minutes of my footage about 5 times now, and sometimes it reads 23.98 fps, and other times it reads 29.98 fps.
What's the deal??? Could it be the small canon I'm using as a deck??
P.S. I just re-checked my "easy setup" in FCP, and it read "custom setup", when I know I set it to 24 advanced removal. That's twice it's defaulted itself to "custom setup". And no, it's not a pirated copy or anything like that. I think I'll clear my prefs and repair permissions through disk utility and see if that helps.
