This is a list of stuff that I am planning to purchase at once and I was looking for any questions or concerns with what I'm gonna get. Maybe some other options or better choices etc. I'd like to keep my budget under 7k. Some things to remember when looking at this... the camera comes with a 16gb P2 card, i'm also probably gonna buy a pelican hard case for the camera so throw another 300 bucks or so on the total.

Panasonic 32gb P2 card $569.00

I'm thinking about possibly purchasing a small light kit... depending on the price and I was also wondering if I should get a matte box (I was thinking redrock) if it is even necessary? I'll be shooting Shorts, possibly features, promo videos and weddings. Please if you have recommendations for Matte boxes or Light kits that are reasonably priced please post with links. Thanks for takin the time to help me out :-)

Skip the ME-66, it is outdated and not a good value anymore. The Audio Technica AT-875r is superior sounding, smaller and will mount to your camera or can be used effectively as a boom mic. It also costs less than half of what the ME-66 costs. I own both as well as the ME-64 and ME-67. They are not bad mics but they are not good mics either, they are just sort of adequate. The 875r is a great mic for the money, you can listen to samples recorded with it here http://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/right_mic_brockett.html

The DVX User batteries are a much better value as Jester says.

If I were you, I would buy a better tripod head. The Bogen stuff is also mediocre. Yes, you can rest your camera on one, but try to do a simultaneous pan and tilt and you will quickly see why you should spend a lot more on a tripod head. I own the 501, 701 as well as a Sachtler DV-6SB. No comparison between the Bogens and the Sachtler, it is like night and day. A good tripod head will last you for your next 20 years worth of cameras, a Bogen will be ready for Ebay in a few months.

I agree with the AT-875r...it's a great mic. Although it will mount to the cam, it will also pick up significant servo noise when zooming, but then again, so will just about any good sensitive mic.

EDIT: dittos on the tripod.

Thanks for the inputs! Do you think I need a matte box if so what kinda and any recommendations? And I was also thinkin bout getting a small lighting kit any recommends???
