Hearing a lot of different things about all these super cheap gh2 batteries online. I need some info from someone who has found a good brand of gh2 batteries that works fine (while running hack etc.) with no problems and they charge fine. I have read some won't charge in the panny charger? Don't wanna waste a ton of money on batteries to just get screwed. ALSO, Looking for an AC adapter for event work. any suggestions?

Unless you really, truly can't afford Panasonic batteries, I wouldn't bother with generic. The Panasonic batteries have a meter on-screen telling you the charge level and they last a predictable (and decent) amount of time. I haven't heard of any generic batteries that support the on-screen meter, so even if you find batteries that last for a while--and most generics have very short battery life--you could end up being pretty nervous shooting while not knowing if your battery is half-full or about to die.

Also, the Panasonic AC adapter, while pricey, is completely reliable.

The eBay batteries work for me. It is true that they don't show the battery meter, but it does work fine. For the price (you can get multiple for the price of 1 Panasonic battery), you can buy multiple and just keep switching them out after a bit (if you're afraid of the camera shutting down while recording).

I went ahead and bought 3 panasonic batteries. Pricey, but not knowing how much juice you have is a SERIOUS problem when shooting and I have heard many stories of the cheap batteries getting really hot and not lasting nearly as long as the panny ones. Thanks guys! Hopefully they will work in the GH3 so I can save some cash when that gets hacked ;)

Check out Dolgin Plate for the GH2.
I'm suing it on my rig, I get about 4 hours of battery power from a single HVX-200 Battery for both my GH2 and my DP6 monitor.\
You can choose a plate for Panasonic or Sony battery.

(PS: I am not affiliated with dolgin, only use and enjoy the tools)

Seriously nice find! I bet hvx-200 batteries are pretty cheap? Also, Let us know how the ac adapter performs as that's a lot cheaper than the official one.

If you don't already own DV batteries consider the Sony "L" as they're ubiquitous, & used on many 3rd party accessories.

I have the a/c unit from Amazon and while it works fine for stills, I cannot use it for video. Mine generates so much a/c type noise that it overrides the external mic signal as well as an xlr feed from a pro system so all you get is really loud noise. Once I switched the camera back to batteries the problem went away.

IT seems like all 3rd party adapters/batteries for the GH2 cause some kind of problem or just aren't worth the trouble. Panasonic really wanted your money on this one.

Thanks for the heads up! Even though filming wouldn't be my primary use for the adapter, I'll return mine if this is an issue.
