Hello all,
this is the third clip we are putting online from our movie ASH WEDNESDAY: CAPITULO UNUS
http://blip.tv/file/get/Dwstudio-StoryOfAsh645.mp4
This is a kind of a flashback scene that has been obviously color corrected to death, and which we shot it at 12db gain, because it was at night...
ALSO I must warn you that it contains GRAPHIC VIOLENCE/RAPE...
Thanks!

well i liked it i jus forgot to comment on it because my boss came in my office and asked me what i was working on before i could respond, lol.

how many minutes is the entire feature and how many pages were in your script?

i'm working on my first feature.

My script is 67 pages... rather short, HOWEVER after I was done I timed myself imagining the movie and at the end I was at 80 min (more or less)...
The movie turned out to be 100 minutes...

For example, this scene was 2 pages long (just the narration + the description of what was going to be on screen) but I didn't anticipate the scene going longer (as it did), and I guess it just played out by itself...

To me the most frustrating thing is not making the script or the movie, or any aspect of post, because I can control all of that (sort of)... the hardest and most frustrating thing is getting the movie out there, and getting a distribution deal...

67 - 75 pages is a perfect length for a micro budget - especially one as visual as this because time will be futzed with a lot.

Nice work. Kind of created a world like Scorcese does in Goodfellas, etc. with the VO looking into a crime world and giving us one person's perspective who's caught up in it - but not derivative at all.

Would like to see more.

great because i've been trying to make my screenplay 90 pages when it may actually be about 70-75....i guess if i come up short i could film pickup shots for opening and closing credits or add one or two flashbacks like you have done.

what route are you going to try and get a distribution deal? are you contacting studios and hoping to get it in the theaters or are you just trying to get paid lovely so you can make another film?

Minimum feature length is 65 -75 minutes depending on the festival.

Though I've read micro budget how-to guidelines that say 90 pages.

Thanks for the comments...
Filmboy77, I'm trying to get the best distribution deal that involves some kind of marketing plan along with a healthy front/back end payment...
I really don't care if it's straight to DVD, what I care is that there are ads supporting the release, in order to drum up some good word of mouth...
I'll keep y'all posted on any future developments...
:-)
