Hey guys, I would like to share my newest short film "Thinking of You," shot on the Letus Extreme and FD lenses. I'm pretty proud of this one.

Huy,

That was lovely. A great example of how shallow DOF adds to the narrative, almost becoming a character in itself. The film would have been completely different with a small sensor and no 35mm adapter.

There is a continuity issue I'm sure you're aware of, her name tag changes sides--no big deal.

I hope you will show this short to Hien.

Just an all-around beautiful film! Excellent work. Cast & crew should be extremely proud.

Nice usage of time and space, thought the name tag was done on purpose ?

Cute actress the guy not so cute.

Hi Huy,
Its beatufully shot.I loved the camera movements sync with music. And lighting is excellent. How did you manage to maintain light constant all through the short.
All in all Excellent.

Thanks Jay. The "sunlight" was just a 650 fresnel outside the window and interior were a combination of natural light from outside and a Cool Light flourescence. We actually didn't keep the lighting as consistent as I would have liked since the shoot dragged on late into the night and we started losing the interior fill light, which is why some of the later shots of her over by the counter had more shadows than they did earlier. We ended up having to fake sunlight with the 650 and not show any of the windows.

Gorgeous! Which FD lenses did you use?

The name tag switches sides in the one scene (when the guy first comes inside the shop) because the first shot of her is...flopped! The text on her name tag reads backwards, the flower is on the other side of her head, etc. Oops. And as long as we're nitpicking continuity problems (which I hate to do, because this film was so well done!) she talks about him stopping by the shop every day at 4:30PM on the dot...and then he says he stops by on his way to class every morning...

Hey, if your friends here can't point out this stuff, who's going to :-)

Really nice job, man. You pulled some amazing color out of the XH-A1.

Dialogue was a little "eh," but production values were really top notch! Great work!

Duncan, I was using the 35mm f2. the 50mm f1.2L, the 85mm f1.2L and the 135mm f2.

Yup, you got me. I gotta tell you, it's a lot harder to keep the 180 rule in mind when you ended up having to cheat where the background is and have to remember where the characters are looking. For one reason or another (mainly having to do with lighting issue) it wasn't possible to do simple reverse shots so we just had to pick a spot in the store and pretend that's where characters are looking at.

Yea, there's that one too. Jeff improv several versions of that line and sometimes he said morning, sometimes evening. The morning one was the best so I just kept it.

I thought I knew how it would end but no ...
You gotta ad this ending,
She goes home, or somewhere ... and the flowers are there waiting for her.
