Thinking of making the the HVX upgrade, how much is my DVX Kit worth?

Hey everyone,

There are usually a dozen or so of these threads that pop up every other day, but I need some of my own answers.

I'm looking into selling my DVX100B Kit for an upgrade to an HVX200A

The camera has 170 hours clocked in and is in decent shape, a couple of small scuff marks on the body but is still in the basic condition I bought it in back in December of 2006. Everything would be as is: battery, AC Adapter and charger, Manual, Barry's DVX Bot Camp Book and DVD.

I also have a Chrosziel 4X4 Sunshade with 15mm rails, base plate, French Flag, and 72mm to 85mm adapter ring, and I also have a 72mm Chrosziel Focus Gear Ring for a Follow Focus System.

I got a quote from B&H Photo Video, which puts my kit at $2,100. Is that too low for what my kit's reselling price?

Money is not the issue in regards to purchasing the HVX, but if I do sell my DVX I want to make sure I get my money's worth.

Where are you planning on selling it?

Sounds like an okay price. Even though a dvx100b is an awesome camera, just remember that you are selling used SD gear. I see ads all the time where people are trying to sell their old GL2 for 2500 or some bullshit like that.

Shoot high, but be realistic
 
Well the price quote came from B&H, which I may sell the camera to and use that money with my savings to purchase the HVX.

Another idea was asking around to some friends of mine who do public access TV but I'm not sure they could meet the price.

I'm thinking of $2,100 for the whole camera kit and $1,700 for just the camera

Too high?
 
Man when I purchased my camera one year ago for about $3300 from B&H I realized the canon a1 was out for about the same price. I called them and they said they would offer $1500 for it with 15 hours(dvx100b). I would sell your camera personally because quite frankly B&H has to make money back on it when they sell it used.
 
Yeah, I am just surprised at such a decrease in price. They still sell the camera for $2,500, but even with my Chrosziel Sunshade Kit I'm only getting $2,100? Something doesn't seem right to me about that.
