Hey there guys and gals,

I just signed up for dvxuser, and had a couple quick questions/concerns with going hd.....i am going to be shooting training and safety videos, and will be using the facilities at the gig I just started, they have an old sony 400, and i am trying to talk them into buying some new equipment....do you think that going hd is necessary? I know hd always looks better, but the dvx is what I have always used, and it looks pretty great as it is.

Thanks for any opinions,

t

Really depends on your needs. The HVX200 is solid, a great deal and shoots a sweet picture in HD. That said, the DVX does basically the same level of image quality while limited to standard definition. Do you need to deliver in HD, would slow motion help? Then go with the HVX. That said, we're all heading HD at some point. NTSC will ultimately disappear. Shooting HD now gives you at least some level of future proofing.

Will be doing some filming on elevated train lines and showing people basically how not to **** up. hte problem is that the beauracracy that i work for moves slow, and is cheap, so I'm handcuffed. They might not go hd for twenty years.

another quick question......they have the avid from 2003, not very wise in the way of editing, but how do you get the upgrades for that stuff?
